P0452 is a fault code for an emission system. The Powertrain Control Module will set a P0452 error code if the EVAP System Pressure Sensor (also known by the name fuel tank pressure sensors) detects a change in pressure below certain parameters over a specified period of time. The PCM uses the fuel tank sensor to detect fluctuations in internal pressure within the fuel tank.
The sensor can be found in the tank or on the fuel line that comes from the fuel module. The fuel tank must be removed to access the sensor. A low EVAP pressure is a sign of a system problem, not just the sensor.
The EVAP system fault codes include P0440 , P0441 , P0442 , P0443 , P0445 , P0446 , P0447, P0448 , P0449 P0450 Â, P0451 , P0453 , P0454 , P0455 , P0456 , P0457 , P0458 , P0459.

What are the possible causes of fault code P0452?
The most common cause of the fault code P0452, is a loose cap on the fuel tank. Other causes include:
- Loose fuel tank cap
- Fuel lines clogged
- Fuel tank that is faulty or damaged
- Faulty fuel tank sending unit
- Faulty fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor
- Leaking of the gasket on the fuel pump module
- Short circuit or open in the wiring harness of the sensor
- Faulty electrical connections to the FTP sensors
- Clogged vapour line
- Vapour line cracked or broken to the tank
- Canister vapor line cracked or broken
- Canisters that are defective
- Canister vent valve faulty (in certain cases)
What Are the Symptoms of Fault Code P0452?
- Engine fault light illuminating
- Fuel odour caused by fuel vapours
How to Fix Fault Code P0452?
- Repair fuel tank pressure sensor
- Tightening the fuel cap
- Repair damaged cables that lead to the fuel tank sensor
P0452 Fault Code – How Serious Is It?
The EVAP system has a number of fault codes that can affect the performance of the vehicle. However, the majority have no effect. They cause an increase in emissions and carbon buildup.
