Fuel pressure is one of the key factors that affect engine performance. Fuel pressure is monitored by the fuel pressure sensor. The voltage signal is used to transmit this information to the powertrain controller module (PCM/ECM). This data is used by the PCM to calculate how much fuel should be delivered to the engine. The PCM will store the P0193 code in memory if the fuel pressure sensor continuously sends a high signal.
This code can trigger the P0172 code (Fuel System Too Rich).

What are the causes of fault code P0193?
The fault code P0193 can be caused by an electronic or mechanical problem. Causes can vary depending on vehicle type, fuel system or fuel type.
- Faulty fuel line pressure sensor
- Short circuit in the fuel pressure sensor circuit, due to damaged wires, corrosion and loose connections
- Abnormal fuel pressure
- Low fuel levels
- Fuel filter clogged
- Faulty fuel pump relay
- Faulty fuel pump
- Leaking vacuum hoses
What are the symptoms of fault code P0193?
- The engine fault light illuminating
- Increased fuel consumption
- Loss of engine performance
- Engine hesitation during sudden acceleration
- Vehicle stalling at idle or jerking
- Engine not starting or difficult to start
- Unpleasant smells coming from exhaust
- Exhaust gas emissions increase
How to Fix Fault Code P0193?
- Filling the fuel tank
- Repairing cables that are broken, loose, or have short circuits
- Replace the fuel filter if it is clogged
- Replace the fuel pump relay
- Replace the fuel pump fuse
- Replace the fuel pump if it is faulty
- Replace the fuel pressure sensor if it is faulty
How serious is fault code P0193?
The fault code P0193 should be identified and fixed immediately. This code is serious as it may cause driving issues that can make the vehicle difficult to drive and dangerous.
