P0332 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2) Fault: What is it?

P0332 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2) Fault: What is it?

The PCM sets the code P0332 and illuminates the fault light when it receives from the knock sensor circuit a voltage lower than that specified by the manufacturer. The knock sensor is designed to alert the PCM to vibrations or misfires within the engine cylinders. The PCM will not be able to adjust the timing of the ignition correctly if a low voltage signal is received by the knock sensor. This can cause higher emissions or other engine problems. The P0332 code is triggered if the knock sensor bank 2 produces a low voltage output (possibly below 0.5V).
The engine fault light can remain on or flash intermittently when the P0332 code appears. Other fault codes related the knock sensor are P0325, P0326, P0327, P0328, P0329, P0330, P0331, P0333.

What are the possible causes of fault code P0332?

  • Faulty or broken Knock Sensor
  • Faults in the circuit or connectors
  • Low air/fuel mix
  • If you have any problems with your cooling system, please contact us immediately.
  • EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation System) is faulty

What are the symptoms of fault code P0332?

Symptoms of the P0332 error code are often noticeable. To prevent engine failure, you should have your vehicle checked if you notice any of these symptoms.

  • Engine fault light illuminating
  • Low performance engine
  • Fuel consumption increases
  • Whining sound from the engine while accelerating
  • Increased engine temperatures under normal operating conditions

How to Fix Fault Code P0332?

Most often, the fault is caused by replacing the knock sensor before properly identifying the root cause. The problem may be caused by faulty wiring or connectors. The cooling system or EGR could also be at fault. In such situations, replacing the knock sensor would be a complete waste of money.

  • Test the knock sensor resistance
  • Replace worn or damaged cables and connectors within the sensor circuit
  • Check that the circuit and sensor are properly grounded
  • Replace the knock sensor
  • Checking the EGR system or cooling system for any faults
  • Replace or reprogram the PCM

How serious is fault code P0332?

Engine knocking can have a serious impact on the engine’s efficiency and ability to run efficiently. The PCM will not be able to accurately diagnose the problem if the knock sensor fails. This can cause rough running, excessive heating, fuel economy problems and more.
