P0002 indicates that the fuel pressure regulator is not functioning correctly. This means that the ECU detects that it cannot control the amount of fuel sent to the injectors. This can cause the engine to run unevenly or go into fault mode.
Possible causes:
- Even if the high-pressure fuel pump (HP pump) has been replaced, the replacement pump may not be operating efficiently (remanufactured, reconditioned, etc.).
- The regulator (SCV valve) or pressure sensor response may be weak.
- Air in the fuel line: Hose connections, clamp leaks, etc.
- Electrical contact failure or interrupted signal: Injector, regulator sockets, short circuit risks.
- ECU software problem: The injection map and sensor signals may not be supporting each other.
