The Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM/ECU), detects that the signal from the camshaft sensor is not correct. The fault code P0341 is triggered when there is a correlation between the signal from the camshaft sensor and that of the crankshaft sensor. The fault code may be referred to as “Camshaft Position A, Bank 1, Range/Performance Issue” or “Camshaft Position Circuit Range/Performance”, but it is the same.

What are the causes of fault code P0341?
- Camshaft sensors cables are too close to spark plug cables, causing interference
- Cable connections loose on the engine control module
- Faulty camshaft sensor
- Reluctor wheel damaged
- Elongation of the timing chain, or faulty timing chain tensioner (other fault codes may also be set)
- Elongation of the chain or faulty tensioner for the timing chain (other fault codes can also be set)
- A crankshaft sensor that is faulty (other fault codes can also be set)

What are the symptoms of fault code P0341?
- Engine fault light illuminates – engine starts slowly or fails to start
- Misfires in the engine
- Vehicles stalls while idling, or after releasing the pedal
- The idle speed is too high or too low
- Stuttering of the engine during driving because of intermittent sensor signals
- Reduced engine power
- Fuel consumption increases
How to Fix Fault Code P0341?
- After clearing all codes, the system should undergo a road test to see if it returns.
- Cables and connectors that lead to the eccentric shaft must be inspected, and damaged or loose cable should be repaired.
- Test the resistance and the signal voltage of the sensor. If the sensor is faulty, it should be replaced.
- Check for corrosion on the sensor connections.
- Check for damage or breakage on the shaft gear and sensor reluctance wheels. Replace them if needed.
How Important is Fault Code P0341?
The engine will run abnormally, stall out or not start due to a faulty camshaft. The engine will run in an irregular manner, shake or misfire when driving if the sensor signal is weak or intermittent. It is dangerous to drive a vehicle with this fault. The problem must be repaired immediately.
