The power transmission system control modules (PCM/ECM), which receives information from multiple circuits, displays the fault code P2509. The ECM is supplied with voltage via a contact relay. In the contact relay, you will find circuits for battery voltage, chassis power, and ignition. The ECM also receives information from the contact relay via an output signal. The ECM will display the P2509 error code if the voltage of the signals does not meet the specifications set by the manufacturer. It will also illuminate the engine fault indicator lamp.

What are the causes of fault code P2509?
Faulty batteries are one of the most common causes for an ECM not receiving enough voltage.
- Blown fuse
- Faulty batteries
- Cable connectors and connections that have melted
- Faulty circuits
- PCM/ECM relay faulty
- ECM Fault
What are the symptoms of fault code P2509?
- The engine will not start or stall
- Engine does not turn at all

How to Fix Error Code P2509?
- Repair or replace the ECM cable if there are signs of damage, wear or breakage.
- Check for corrosion, loose connections and broken terminals on the battery cables.
- Replace or repair the battery cables if necessary.
- Clear all fault codes in the ECM, and then start the vehicle. Test drive the vehicle to see if you get back the P2509 error code.
- Test the PCM relay if the P2509 error code appears again.
- Check for melting connections and the fuse.
- Clear all fault codes in the ECM, and then start the vehicle. Test drive the vehicle to see if you get back the P2509 error code.
- If the P2509 code is returned, check the electrical circuits of the relay system and fuse system.
- Clear the ECM of all fault codes and restart the vehicle. Test drive the vehicle to see if you get back the P2509 error code.
- If you receive the P2509 error code again, make sure that your battery and charging system is working correctly.
- Replace or repair the battery, charging system components and/or other parts as needed.
- Clear the ECM of all fault codes and restart the vehicle. Test drive the vehicle to see if you get back the P2509 error code.
- If you see the P2509 code again, turn the ignition key to ON. The fault is a relay if the Engine Fault Light doesn’t illuminate.
- If there is no fault with the relay, it may be necessary to replace the ECM and reprogram it.
